Returning & Transferring a Local License
If you want to use a license on a different machine, you must first return it. Then, you can activate it on another machine using the same procedure as you did the first time you activated it.
Likewise, if you intend to re-install your operating system or to reset it to its default state, you must first return your license so that you are able to activate it again after you have reinstalled the product.
If you have a subscription license, a perpetual license or any other type of local, non-server license, you can return it by following the steps in the following sections:
- See Returning a Local License via Internet if the computer on which the license is activated has access to the Internet.
- See Return a Local License via Email if the computer on which the license is activated does not have access to the Internet.
NOTE If you have a server license, please see Returning a Server License instead.
IMPORTANT A license cannot be returned more than 5 times in a 48 hours period. Hence, it is recommended to avoid transferring your license frequently.
