About Shape Aware Deformations

The Shape-Aware Deformation is a multi-functional deformer that allows for better control through the use of weighted coordinates with controllable regions of influence.

About the Shape-Aware Deformation

The Shape-Aware Deformation is a single node that is capable of utilizing three methodologies of deformation. You have the choice of utilizing a Point, Bone and Cage system individually or in combination. This gives more flexibility and control to the animator when choosing how to deform their drawings.

When a drawing is deformed with the Shape-Aware Deformation, the applied deformation considers the underlying shape of an image. This creates an area of influence that is constrained, allowing deformations of coordinates to be localized without affecting the shape as a whole. This makes the Shape-Aware Deformation more predictable for the animator, and offers more control.

NOTE The Shape-Aware Deformation creates a Deformation Mesh of underlying triangles. It will adhere itself to the geometry of drawings that were made with both the brush and pencil tool.
