Positioning the Light Source for Surface Shading
You can manipulate the position of the Light Source for your shading system in the Camera view. For best results, it is recommended to position the light source above all the volume objects in your scene. In other words, its position on the Z-axis must be higher than the highest volume object in your rig.

In the Tools toolbar, select the Transform tool.
- In the Node View, select the Light Position node.

Show the controls for the Light Position node by doing one of the following:
- In the Camera view toolbar, click on Show Control .
- From the top menu, select View > Show > Control.
- Press Shift + F11.
A control resembling a light projector will appear in the Camera view.
- Reposition the light source to the desired position by moving the red control point:
- To change the position of the light source on the x and y axes, click and drag on the light projector.
- To change the position of the light source on the z-axis, press and hold the Alt key, then click and drag on the light projector.
Move the light in the scene to best represent the desired lighting condition.

To make the light source point towards the artwork, position the target of the light source over the artwork by moving the purple control point:
- To change the position of the target on the x and y axes, click and drag on the light projector.
- To change the position of the target on the z-axis, press and hold the Alt key, then click and drag on the light projector.
TIP You can also adjust the position of the light source in the layer properties of the Light Position node. To access them, in the Node View, click on the Layer Properties button inside the Light Position node. -
To preview the effect of the new position of the light source, click on the Render View button in the toolbar at the bottom of the Camera view.
