Preventing the Alt Key Keyboard Shortcut Conflict Between Harmony and the GNU/Linux Desktop

By default, in GNOME 2 and KDE, clicking anywhere on a window while holding the Alt key down will move the window. Because the Alt key is used as a modifier for some drawing and animations tools in Harmony, this may come in conflict with Harmony functionalities. Hence, it is highly recommended to configure your desktop environment to use the Super (Windows) key for moving windows instead.

  1. In the GNOME top menu, select System > Preferences > Windows.

    The Window Preferences dialog appears.

  2. In the Movement Key section, select Super (or "Windows Logo")
  3. Click on Close.

  1. In the KDE menu, select Computer > System Settings.

  1. In the System Settings window, select the Windows Behavior icon.
  2. Select the Window Actions tab.
  3. In the Modifier Key drop-down, select Meta.
  4. Click on Apply.
