Importing Flash / Animate Movies (.swf)
You can import Flash / Animate (.swf
) files in Harmony by importing them to your Library, which turns them into Harmony templates that you can import into your scene.
- In the Library view, right-click on the Harmony Essentials Library folder and select Right to Modify to unlock the library folder. Make sure the locked folder icon turns into an unlocked folder icon. If not, your library will remain locked and you will not be able to import files.
- Do one of the following:
- In the top menu, select File > Import > SWF, Illustrator Files to Library.
- Right-click on any unlocked folder and select Import Files.
The browser window opens.
- Find and select your
.swf
file from the Import Files dialog box and click Open.
The Rename dialog box opens.
- Type a name for the new template or keep the name of the original
*.swf
file.
- Click OK.
A new template folder is created in the Library view.
-
Drag the new template folder from the Library view to the left side of the Timeline view, in the list of layers. Wait until the drag and drop cursor appears before releasing the folder.
The layers inside the template are added to the list of layers in The Timeline view.
- The colour recovery dialog box appears. This is because the colours used in the SWF file does not correspond to any colour in your scene’s palettes. You must click Yes to generate a palette for the imported SWF file. If you plan on importing multiple SWF files, you should check Do Not Ask Again For This Session first so that a palette is automatically generated for all subsequent SWF files.
The colour palette used to create the SWF file is created. It is named after the name of the SWF file, followed by “_rec”.
- All layers in the imported template will be rigged under a peg named GlobalFlashPeg. This peg ensures that the elements are placed in the right area of the stage.
- Some layers in the original Flash / Animate project may have been combined into single layers when exported from Adobe Flash / Animate, and hence, were imported as single layers into Harmony.
