Chapter 68: License Activation
You can activate your Toon Boom product by Internet or email, as well as client or server.
All license activation operations are done in the License Wizard. You will need your Toon Boom account login information (email and password)—see How to start the License Wizard.

How the license activation process works
Depending on how you choose to activate your license, you may need to:
| • | Sign in to your account. |
| • | Enter your product code (this is sent to you by email when you make an electronic purchase). |
| • | Select a method of activation (Internet or email). On selecting the activation method, your product code is sent to Toon Boom (automatically by Internet or email). Once your license is validated, the product is activated and ready to use. |
How to start the License Wizard
The Toon Boom License Wizard is the application used to activate, install, and manage the license for the product you purchased. The License Wizard will guide you through the activation process and act as a bridge between you and the Toon Boom License Server.
The License Wizard will automatically run the first time you start the Toon Boom product and every subsequent time until you activate the product. You may need to access it later once the activation is complete (e.g. deactivating the product to install it on another computer).

How to transfer a Toon Boom product to another computer
- Return the license and uninstall the Toon Boom product if it's going to be a permanent move—see Returning a License via Internet.
- Install the Toon Boom product on another computer by doing one of the following:
| ‣ | If you still have the original installer (.exe or .dmg file), transfer it (via USB key for example) and run it on the other computer. |
| ‣ | If you do not have the original installer, log in to your account on the Toon Boom Animation store (using the email and password you created when you purchased your Toon Boom product). |
On the My Products page, download another installer of the product you purchased. You should do this on the new computer.
Start the Toon Boom product and follow the onscreen instructions to activate the license.
How to deactivate a license
If you need to activate a Toon Boom product on another computer, you must first deactivate the license and return it to Toon Boom Animation. Once the license returned, the product will no longer run on the computer until you reactivate it.
Deactivation is only available if you have a working Internet connection on your computer. You cannot perform deactivation by email. If you need to return a license by email, contact licensor@toonboom.com.

Is product activation related to product registration?
License activation is mandatory to prevent unauthorized use of the product and is required to run your Toon Boom product on the computer, whereas license registration is optional.
Registration is recommended for accessing product downloads, product licenses, patches, and learning material, as well as downloading online upgrades. It’s also a good way to keep an online record of the products you’ve purchased and a good place to store all the peripheral information concerning those products.
