Breakdown Assistant Toolbar

The Breakdown Assistant toolbar is an accessible menu that allows you to apply breakdowns and in-betweens to your animation. From the Breakdown Assistant toolbar, you can apply breakdowns and in-betweens, source the element that will be affected by the Breakdown Assistant as well as customize the Breakdown Assistant settings.

Parameter Description
Slider Manually select the percentage value of interpolation to apply to your asset.
Nudge

Manually select the percentage value of interpolation to apply to your asset. Shift your breakdowns incrementally by a percentage value based on the start and end position of the adjacent keyframes.

NOTE By default, the nudge percentages are set to the following:
  • Nudge Left: -25

  • Nudge Right: 25

TIP When you press Shift, a new Nudge value will appear.
Position Buttons

Apply a breakdown to your asset based on the percentage value of the Position Button selected.

NOTE By default the percentages are set to the following:
  • Negative Button 3: -125: Anticipation.

  • Negative Button 2: -75: Favouring the previous keyframe.

  • Negative Button 1: -25: Favouring the midpoint from the previous keyframe.

  • Middle Button: 0: The Midpoint.

  • Positive Button 1: 25: Favouring the midpoint from the next keyframe.

  • Positive Button 2: 75: Favouring the next keyframe.

  • Positive Button 3: 125: Overshoot.

TIP When you press Shift, a new set of Position Buttons will appear.

Settings

On the end of the Breakdown Assistant toolbar there is a dropdown menu that will allow you to affect the settings of the Breakdown Assistant. You can affect the sliders, selection mode as well as edit buttons.

Section Description
Slider

A dropdown menu that will affect how the slider functions.

The options in the Slider menu are the following:

  • Allow Overshoots: When enabled, allows the slider to exceed the original position of the keyframe.

    NOTE By enabling Allow Overshoot, the values on the slider will range from -150 to 150 allowing to set a breakdown key that exceeds the previous and following keys on the timeline. This will allow you to apply anticipation and overshoots.
    TIP Any value larger than -100 will produce an antic. Any value that exceeds 100 will produce an overshoot.
  • Snap Slider Handle: When enabled, the slider handle will follow the cursor.

  • Auto-Apply: When enabled, will apply the breakdown to the timeline when the cursor stops. The breakdown will be made regardless of if you released the left click.

Slider Size

Allows you to select the physical size of your slider.

You can pick from the following options:

  • Small

  • Medium

  • Large

NOTE By default, the slider size is set to medium.
Selection Mode

Select which element will be affected when applying a breakdown using the Breakdown Assistant.

There are three Selection Mode options:

  • Auto (Shortcut): The Breakdown Assistant will reference the animation based on where the cursor is focused.

  • Timeline: The Breakdown Assistant will reference the animation on the timeline layer.

  • Node: The Breakdown Assistant will reference all the currently selected nodes.

Edit Button Values

Section Description
Button

The Buttons are the editable values of the Nudge and Position Buttons.

All the values can be changed and will be reflected in the Breakdown Assistant view and toolbar.

To change a value, select it and enter a new value.

Shift + Button

The Shift + Buttons are the editable values of the secondary Nudge and Position Buttons.

All the values can be changed and will be reflected in the Breakdown Assistant view and toolbar.

To change a value, select it and enter a new value.

NOTE These are the values that will appear when you press Shift while using the Breakdown Assistant.
OK

Apply all changes to the percentage values of the Button and Shift + Button values.

Cancel Cancel all changes to the percentage values of the Button and Shift + Button values.
